Effective Skin Care in Winter

Effective Skin Care in Winter

By Samia Tariq

Winters signify celebrations, events and long beautiful evening walks. Watching the snow fall with a warm coffee cup adds up to the flavors of winter. However nothing in the world is without its odds and similar is the case with cold weather. As soon as the winter arrives, the skin loses its glow and becomes quite fade. Cool dry breeze also causes a severe skin problem namely eczema in which the skin becomes inflamed with a worse feeling of itchiness all over the skin.

Skin damage is a very sensitive issue particularly for females. Proactively dealing with the skin issues can save you from the intricate skin problems. The cosmetic companies offer an assortment of skin care and skin repair products with varying ingredients. There are also many home remedies for protecting your skin from the winter odds.

Here are some useful tips that work well against all the commonly observed skin issues:

1. Improving humidity levels:

During winter lack of humidity is the main problem in the centrally heated homes. The lack of humidity can cause your skin to become cracked and damaged. Installation of a proper humidifier from a reliable vendor can resolve this issue. You can also use homemade humidifiers like placing a boiling water pan, spraying curtains or drying the wet clothes in the living room. Maintaining a good humidity level your home is always good for skin care.

2. Drinking adequate water:

In winter, water intake is reduced greatly as compared to the summer season. This is due to the fact that the feeling of thirst reduces to a great extent. However water plays a major role in skin repair and acts as an excellent skin moisturizer. Therefore, one must not ignore the importance of water as a very successful and cost effective solution for skin problems.

3. Using skin moisturizers:   rel=nofollow Natural skin care moisturizers have an overwhelming ability to give a new life to your skin. Effective moisturizers possess the ability to remove the dead cells on your skin and remove dryness efficiently. Every skin care moisturizer has different application techniques which are clearly mentioned on the product. You can also apply almond or coconut oil as a substitute of any expensive skin moisturizing lotion after taking showers.

4. Using Sunscreens:

Some people think that sunscreen use is only restricted to summers; however, you must use effective sun block in winters for skin care as well as skin repair. Normally a sunscreen of SPF 15 is recommended for people having an oily skin. Consulting with your family dermatologist can assist you greatly in making a sunscreen purchase decision.

5. Taking a nutritious diet:

Along with the external application of various skin care creams, it is also essential to take nutritious food. It must be combination of juicy fruits as well as healthy foodstuff offering plenty of vitamin A and D. Eating plenty of green salads in raw form can prove to be an excellent source of fresh healthy skin.

6. Avoiding lengthy showers:

Hot water has diverse effects on skin and it can cause severe damage to the hair as well as skin. Therefore, it is very important that you avoid taking long showers. Using lukewarm water instead of very hot water can save the natural oils of your skin. Skin care in a winter is not a difficult task; all it requires are some small tips to make your skin in a natural condition.

7. Using Lip Balms:

Lips are subject to a lot of dryness and cracks in the winter season. Some people are in the habit of licking the dry lips which tends to worsen the situation. Always remember to purchase a good quality lip balm to make your lips in a healthier state.

8. Using Vaseline to Sooth Heels:

Vaseline is astounding for inflamed heals during winter. Simply apply large quantities of Vaseline before wearing your socks. Also use shoes with thick soles to ease your feet during the harsh weather.

9. Minimizing Hair Dryers usage:

If your hair are already thin, weak and dry it is better to avoid the usage of Hair dryers. Switch to the cool drying option if you have to attend any occasion urgently and could not manage your wet hair.

Use These 4 Top Tips to Solve Your Oily Skin Problem When Applying Makeup

By Marie Sanchez

When you have oily skin, it's necessary to test the makeup to make sure it's not going to produce more oil from your sebaceous glands (oil glands). It won't help if the makeup you're using causes your oil glands to produce more oil. That will only minimize the effect of the makeup for concealing blemishes and pimples.

If the makeup already has a lot of oil in it, the extra oil will smudge the makeup and you'll end up with a nice smear job. Hence, the best way to help your oily skin is to know how to apply the makeup, so it doesn't make the oil worst. Here are 4 tips to help you out.

1. Prepare Your Skin: Wash your face with hot water and soap to open the pores, then splash cold water on it to close the pores. It helps in removing extra oil without damaging the skin. Use an oil free moisturizer with a sunblock to prevent dry skin.

2. The Right Foundation: Use an oil free foundation in thin layers to prevent that "caked on" look. When you apply the foundation it should look natural. Set the foundation with some powder to match the foundation. They do have some setting spray you can use, but be careful it doesn't have added oil in it to increase your oily skin. You can use some kaolin clay, which absorbs the extra oil.

3. Choose A Matte Blush: The blush powder you use should be a lighter shade than your normal color of skin. The matte will have less oil in it than regular blush, which is usually made with an oil base.

Plus, don't use a cream blush; they have an oil base that will increase the oil in your face. Also, you may want to consider carrying a powdered blush with you to touch up the shine. It will make the blush last longer.

4. Eye Liner And Eye Shadow: Be sure you apply some foundation to your eye lids to absorb the extra oil in the creases. You can also use a pat of kaolin clay to absorb the oil. It will work as a base for eye shadow and eye liner, which are both made with an oil base. They do have some that are powdered base, so be sure to use those instead of the oil base eye shadow. Although, sometimes they just don't make them in the colors you like.

If you pat on the eye shadow after you've put on eye liner, it will last longer and not end up in the creases in the eyelids.

Do you have dry/oily/combination/acne prone skin? Which type of skincare/makeup products is suitable for your skin condition? What brush should you use to apply your makeup? Find the answer to all these and more at UrbaneWomen and you will be applying makeup like a professional in no time!

Skin Care Tips for a Healthier You

By Leonard Forbes

A healthy skin is coveted not only because of its aesthetic features but also its capacity to manifest the condition of your whole being. Your skin is more than the outer cover of your body. It is your armor against the foreign objects that might cause harm to your body. It is shields you from the ultraviolet rays of the sun and it also plays a great role in your temperature regulation; not to mention its role as one of your five senses. Because of these, it is just right that we take a look of the important skin care procedures.

It is often said the three basic things that you have to remember in taking care of your skin are the following procedures - Cleanse, Nourish, and Protect. These three are remarkable in its simplicity and surprisingly effective. The complexity rises when you don't know how to properly do the three.

One thing helpful to remember is that skin care is basically tied to the use of skin products. By knowing this, you will have to be very careful in choosing what to use in order to avoid unnecessary mishaps and unfortunate skin accidents. Keep in mind that FDA is not regulating the products associated with skin hygiene or care. It is up to you to keep yourself informed.

Keep in mind that it doesn't necessarily follow that if the product is expensive it must be good; there is no certain association regarding price and efficacy.  What you can do instead is to know whether the product is compatible with your skin type. This will save you a lot of trouble shooting.

As mentioned, the first step of proper skin caring is to cleanse it. Ideal cleaning products are warm clean water and a mild soap. All skin types will benefit from a simple washing that can be done two or three times a day. It is also recommended not to overdo the facial washing since this will cause the glands to produce more oil, thus additional clog to your pores.

It is also said that the most ideal time of cleaning is during night time when your face is at its grimiest. This will prevent any bacteria to build up during sleep and it will also keep your face refresh as your body also recharges.

You may also use facial cleansers, toners, and then moisturizers although this three-way regimen isn't at all necessary. You may want to include exfoliation once every week in order to slough away the dead skin cells and persistent grime.

The second step is to nourish your skin. Skin nourishment is as easy as applying moisturizers. Moisturizers are skin care products that are designed to lock in the moisture of the skin. It is necessary for those who have normal to dry skin while oily skin types may not need them at all.

Finally, step three is to protect. There are many ways to protect one's skin. One of the most important skin protection products is the use of sunscreen. The sun is one of the sources of vitamin D but too much and prolonged exposure to the sun's UV rays will cause skin cancer and advanced skin aging.

5 Skincare Tips To Prevent Dark Circles Under Eyes

5 Skincare Tips To Prevent Dark Circles Under Eyes

By Kayla Alves

When you have to deal with the possibility of dark circles under eyes, you may want to do something to prolong the inevitable.

Here are a few tips to help you prevent those dreaded eye dark circles.

1. Rubbing your skin, especially around your eyes, has a similar effect as the warm water. Sure, it is not a lot of damage, but it will accumulate over time. You will eventually lose the elasticity in your skin if you are rubbing on it. You should pat dry with a very soft towel to avoid doing any damage at all to your skin.

2. Everyone needs 8 hours of sleep every night to rejuvenate their skin. This will help your skin look its best. Not only does the sleep help your body recharge and help your skin to stay healthy, in fact having your eyes closed is a great way to prevent dark circles. Do not become Rip Van Winkle here; just get enough sleep every night.

3. Using chemicals on your face is always a bad idea. If you must wear any makeup at all, you need to make sure that it is natural. Organic products might cost a little bit more due to the organics boom thing happening now, but your face will thank you for it in another ten years. While other people your age has dark circles, you will still look like you are in your 20s.

4. Eye creams should follow along the same lines as the makeup you are using. If you are using an eye cream at night to fight back against the dark circles, make sure that you are using an all-natural product. Some eye creams work well for a few months, but then the effects start to show after prolonged usage. You can avoid this by going with a natural product.

5. When you want to remove your makeup, a gentle soap product and some lukewarm water will do the trick. Do not rub, scrub, and scrape it off either. Be very gentle with the makeup on your face and never use any alcohol or oil-based products to help in the removal. If that takes that much to get it off, it is not worth putting on.

Your eyes are usually the first thing people notice about your face, so make sure that you follow the tips laid out above if you want to avoid having premature eye dark circles. They are going to show up eventually, but you can put it off for a while.

Facial At Home: Skin Care Tips and Recipes

Facial At Home: Skin Care Tips and Recipes

By Amy Stuart

Keeping skin soft and healthy is important, but many commercial products contain harsh chemicals or are very expensive. The good news is that skin care doesn't have to cost a lot of money. With basic household ingredients, keeping skin healthy and hydrated is simple. These recipes are designed for having a facial at home.

Cucumber and Olive Oil Mask
* 3 oz. diced cucumber
* 3 tsp olive oil
* 2 tsp plain yogurt.

Mix the three ingredients until combined. Apply to face and leave on skin for about 15 minutes or until mostly dried. Wash off with cold water. This is a great mask for dry skin, especially in the winter time. The olive oil helps to moisturize delicate facial skin, while the cucumber and yogurt plump skin cells and help to maintain brightness. Use this mask alone if pressed for time, or take a few hours to do an entire facial at home.
This facial at home option can take a few hours, but is a great way to pamper yourself without spending a lot of money. First, get two slices of cucumber, turn on some relaxing music, and pull back hair into a headband. Start by removing any makeup with a gentle cleanser. Remove eye makeup and then rinse with warm water, patting skin dry.

Secondly, use an exfoliator to remove dead skin cells. A basic exfoliating product will work well. Apply a nickel-sized portion, and using gentle, circular motions, exfoliate the face and neck. Be careful not to get too close to the eyes, as the skin in that area is delicate. After this step, rinse face clean.
Thirdly, open the pores. Get a towel wet with warm water. Put the towel on the chin, and wrap both ends around the forehead, spreading it out to cover the sides of the face, leaving a small opening at the nose to breath freely. If available, light a scented candle or use an aromatherapy spray. Relax while reclining for a few minutes while the pores open gently.

Fourthly, apply a facial mask. This can be the oil and cucumber mask, or any other ones available from stores or made at home. Put on the mask and apply the cucumber slices to the eyes. Masks should usually be applied for about 15 minutes. Rinse off the mask, making sure to remove all of it. After patting skin dry, moisturize the face and neck. Use an oil-free moisturizer that won't clog pores. Even individuals with oily skin should apply a moisturizer. Choose a light one which won't weigh down skin.

This at home facial is a great way to relax with friends or just devoting an evening to yourself. Having an at home facial is inexpensive and requires only basic skincare products. For a relaxing and pampering experience, take a few hours and try this facial method at home.

Why spend money on commercial facial mask when you can make your facial at home which guarantees no side effects. HomeRemediesForSkinCare.com offers variety of skin care recipes made of the common ingredient you can find in your kitchen.

Three Basic Health and Beauty Tips For the Teenage Skin

Three Basic Health and Beauty Tips For the Teenage Skin

By Diane Winter

Skincare is very important for teenagers. It is at this stage that teens should be completely aware of how to take very good care of their skin. As much as possible a natural look is recommended. It is not advisable for teenagers to put all that make-up. Besides they won't look their age if then put on some heavy make-up. Generally they only need light make-up and skin maintenance since they still have such sensitive skin.
It is just a must to take care of the skin since it is at this stage that most skin problems like acne, blemishes, dry skin, rash and sunburn occur. Changes in hormonal activity are very evident which can bring change to the skin, too much exposure and lack of water can create skin problems. Here are some basic things to do to keep a healthy skin.

Drink enough Water and Eat a Balance Diet

Water can help you maintain a good health. It is your best ally and helps in flushing out many toxins from poor diet, caffeinated drinks or oil and grease build up. It also helps to replace and improve health of dermal cell membranes. Too much sweating and outdoor activities can leave the body dehydrated which will result into problems in your overall health and skin later.

Having a balance diet is very important in maintaining a healthy looking skin. Junk foods and soft drinks can trigger acne flare-ups which you don't want at this time. It can also increase salt content in the body thus will lead to increase dehydration and poor skin health.

Keep your Daily Beauty Regimen and your Sun Protection

Cleansing, Toning and Moisturizing should be part of your daily skin care regimen. Choose a facial cleanser that will keep pores clear and not block and helps control or even decreased of oil production. Go for an organic product since these products are all gentle to the skin so perfect for sensitive skin.

After cleansing, you can use a toner and moisturizer if you need one. Even if you have oily skin, your skin deserves to be well hydrated so choose a moisturizer that are oil free or hydrator and hypo allergenic.
And of course not to forget to wear your sun protection carefully especially if you are active in outdoor activities. An SPF 15 to 30 will do and is just perfect to protect the skin from sun damage. However check your moisturizer since most of this moisturizer contains a sunscreen already to protect your skin.

Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

Avoid smoking at all times. Smoking is one of the worst things for skin care, It destroys the healthy glow of your skin. Pre-mature aging can happen if you are in to smoking because it can break down the skin collagen, the most important skin protein. Research shows that people who smoke have reduced collagen and elastin production thus their skin looks dull and unhealthy. Skin seems to age fast for smokers. So avoid smoking at all times to prevent a poor health.

Hair Care Tips - 5 Great Foods For Healthy Hair

Hair Care Tips - 5 Great Foods For Healthy Hair

By Imani Brown

The science is relatively simple: in order to have healthy hair, skin and nails, you must eat a healthy well balanced diet. More specifically, for the healthiest hair you need a diet rich in protein, iron, vitamin A, B - 12, omega 3 fats, zinc, folic acid, selenium and biotin.

This is a fairly short list, and there is such a wide variety of tasty foods that you should never have any issue with including each of these essential elements into your healthy hair diet.

Once you know which vitamins and minerals you need, you can quickly compile a reasonable list of tasty foods with variety and map out a diet.

Lets first identify what each of these dietary components does for your hair, then we can identify the foods that contain them.

Why Do these Nutrients Help the Hair?

B - 12 - Promotes a healthy scalp and prevents dandruff. B - 12 also helps the body to absorb iron.
Biotin - Promotes cell regeneration and thickens hair strands.

Protein - Promotes growth and hair strength

Vitamin A - Promotes cell growth by helping the body to process protein and absorb calcium.
Iron - Strengthens hair growth and helps to prevent hair from falling out.

Folic Acid - Promotes cell renewal and therefore promotes growth.

Selenium - Aids in the production of sebum, the natural oil produced by hair follicle.

Zinc - Prevents shedding, promotes hair growth, and helps keep hair shiny with its natural color (prevent graying).

5 Healthy Hair Foods

Eggs - Eggs provide a simple source of protein, biotin, selenium and iron. Starting each day off with one or two boiled eggs with the yolks can be an excellent way to add these essentials to your daily plan.

Salmon - Salmon is one of the best natural dietary sources of omega 3 fats. It is also an excellent source of protein, B - 12 and iron.

Kale - Green leafy vegetables provide iron, calcium and vitamin A. In particular, kale is an extraordinary source of all of these healthy nutrients and more. It is one of the darkest green vegetables, and therefore contains high concentrations of the nutrients that it contains.

Poultry - Eat chicken and turkey for protein, but also for zinc and iron.

Black Beans - Legumes and beans provide protein, iron, zinc and biotin. Black beans, in particular, are a high performing super bean with high concentrations of nutrients.

Supplements

Of course, it is not enough to simply eat these vitamins and minerals, you must eat enough of them. Given this, it is reasonable to incorporate a Hair and Nail supplemental pill or other multi - vitamin into your daily routine to ensure the you get enough of each of these vitamins and minerals. One down - side to these supplements is that they are often quite large and hard to swallow. A simple solution to this is to also pick up a pill cutter when you purchase the supplements. Specific hair and nail enhancing formulas also often have a very strong and unpleasant odor to them. There's not much you can do about this other than to hold your breath and swallow!

10 Tips For Healthy Skin

10 Tips For Healthy Skin

By David Rice

Healthy, younger looking skin is what everyone dreams of. Healthy, younger looking skin is not hard to achieve. Looking after your appearance and maintaining a regular routine and healthy diet can help to give you perfect looking skin, free from spots and blemishes.

Below are 10 tips that will help you on your way to clear, beautiful skin.

1. Your outside appearance reflects what's on your inside. Maintain a healthy and balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and sunflower seeds.

2. Try and drink 6 to 8 glasses of water per day. This will help to keep your skin moist, refreshed and supple, which will help the skin fight off developing wrinkles and blemishes.

3. Moisturize! Applying moisturizer after a warm face wash or a warm shower is the best remedies for skin. Moisturizing helps to restore the oils that our skin has and helps to keep the skin hydrated. Moisturizing for men is just as important as the oils in men's skin can be lost more easily than those in women.

4. Protect yourself from sun and tanning studio's. The sun and tanning studio's are the main reasons for premature aging. By applying self tan spray or keeping your face well protected from UV rays can help to prevent premature aging.

5. Keep up regular exercise. Regular exercise helps to keep the skin elasticity which prevents wrinkles. Exercise is also good for your body as a whole as it helps to maintain a low amount of body fat.

6. Taking vitamins and minerals helps to keep goodness in the skin. Vitamins and minerals have been developed to help your body. By taking one multivitamin can help to keep your skin fresh and clean.

7. Try and maintain a constant sleep pattern. Sleep is the body's time to restore itself and to re-energies the body's organs and skin. By maintaining a regular sleep pattern, you will feel more energized and your skin will become more healthy and fresher looking.

8. Do not scrub and wash too hard. By doing this it removes the required oils that the skin needs to regenerate. When washing, wash lightly and in circular motion. This helps to keep the blood flow in your skin and does not allow the essential oils to escape.

9. Do not squeeze spots. Although very tempting, by squeezing spots and black heads, the disease spreads and your acne will not disappear. By not squeezing your skin can heal the spot on its own and scars will not be formed. Constant squeezing of spots will cause scarring of the skin.

10. Finally, the most important thing you can do to help achieve, younger healthier looking skin is to stop smoking or never to start. Smoking causes premature aging and yellowing of the teeth and skin. The tobacco that is released into the air dries out your skin, while the smoke you inhale constricts the flow of blood to blood vessels, therefore preventing your skin of essential nutrients that your body supplies.

How to Get Soft Smooth Skin On Your Face

How to Get Soft Smooth Skin On Your Face

By Beverly L. Johnson

Lots of people want smooth skin regardless of their gender. The good news is that achieving smooth and clear skin is not exactly rocket science. Regardless of their genes, it is perfectly possible for them to enjoy clear skin even if their family has a history of acne. That being said, following are some tips on how to get soft smooth skin on face.

Concentrate on Hygiene
The most important thing to consider when it comes to smooth skin is the hygiene. Individuals must eliminate the dirt and dust from their facial skin every day. Depending on how often their exposed to these materials, women should wash their face with water at least three times a day. Even simply wiping the face with a wet cloth would help make sure that the skin is not overwhelmed by dirt.

Remove Make Up
This is something women should always take into account. Prior to sleeping, always remove the make-up and wash the face with water. Make up can clog up the pores, resulting to pimples or at the very least rashes. The type of make-up used by the female is also crucial to smooth skin. Ideally, it should complement their skin type and shouldn't trigger any allergies.

Use Cleaners and Exfoliants
Using cleaners and exfoliants also help you to get smoother skin. Cleaners go through the skin, efficiently removing dirt and dust from the pores. Exfoliants however are responsible for getting rid of the dead skin cells festering on the surface.

Eat Right
Diet also plays an important role in getting flawless skin. Keep in mind that the skin is an organ the largest one of the body. Hence, it only makes sense that everything a person eats or drinks would have much to do with their skin appearance. That being said, the best diet for the skin would be fresh fruits and vegetables instead of processed food items.

Exercise
It might not seem like it, but exercising adds to healthy skin. It helps the body sweat off waste while leaving the surface flushed and blood pumping. When done on a routine basis, exercising could promote healthy skin growth not to mention burn off fat and boost the immune system as whole.

Of course, those aren't the only tricks people can use for smooth skin. Depending on the type of skin a person has, they might need to adopt various methods in order to have an excellent dermis.
One of those methods is to use natural cleaners and exfoliants that help your skin and not harm it with dangerous compounds which irritate your skin causing unsightly blemishes, rashes and acne.
The biggest mistake you can make is buying skin care products without knowing what's in them.
I have done the research on natural skin care products, and I have found after much research the best products out there for achieving soft smooth facial skin. So go now and check them out at:

Have a Great Day
